Kotaku reported yesterday that Dead Island developer Deep Silver got in touch with them and talked about the future of Dead Island. Apparently Deep Silver has refocused their attention away from future DLC and expansion packs and on to fixing the bugs that plague the game.

Here is what Deep Silver told Kotaku:

“Right now the Dead Island development team’s priority is working on fixes and updates across all platforms so that we can take care of all of the fans who have been so supportive of our game,” a spokesperson said “There is some awesome DLC content planned for Dead Island, but first we have to put all our focus on the base game experience.”

A PlayStation 3 patch is reportedly on its way to fix some bugs like the very recent Xbox 360 and PC patches did. However there is no confirmed release date on the patch. I think that it is great to hear of a developer who released their game and made sure to stick around to fix the bugs and issues that were there and not immediately move on to making some money off the downloadable content. It does not excuse Deep Silver from releasing a product with clearly so many issues but it is nice to see Deep Silver taking responsibility and trying to make it right.
