Well this is a bit surprising to me. Bioware will be releasing Mass Effect 3 on to the PlayStation Network the same day that it is available in retail stores. Starting today, February 21st, PSN users can digitally pre-order the game and download it to their PlayStation 3 console when the game is released on March 6th.
Users who pre-order the game will get an exclusive PlayStation 3 theme and an M55 Argus Rifle for their characters in-game. This is a pretty cool move for consumers who love the digital distribution model and want to take the next step to do digital distribution for their consoles as well.
As far as I am aware this may just be the first time users can digitally pre-order a full retail game on their console prior to its release. Let’s hope this trend continues.
